Michelle Galletta, a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, founded Kiriki Press in 2012 after wanting to make an embroidered doll for her niece but couldn`t find a pattern anywhere. I couldn`t afford to buy her anything and decided to learn embroidery to make her a set of three owl dolls to play with. It was difficult to find contemporary embroidery patterns, so I ended up designing my own and discovered the fascination of embroidery for myself... After years of craft progression and a lot of design work, Kiriki Press - in the hopes of giving others the chance to make something precious with their own hands - was born."

Starting with seven embroidery designs, the collection has grown steadily over the years and is still lovingly produced in their own studio in Toronto. The patterns are screen printed on cotton with bright, water-based colours, so no tracing or transferring is required.
